MIAMI, FL – November 5, 2010 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Olympia Center Inc., the not-for-profit organization that programs and manages the historic Olympia Theater in Downtown Miami, has named George Cabrera to its Board of Directors. Mr. Cabrera, a 25-year veteran of corporate, nonprofit, and entertainment industries, has worked with some of the biggest names and productions in the performing arts. His latest work as executive producer helped create the innovative, immersive theatrical and branding experience, “AMPARO”, in Miami.
George Cabrera joins existing Board Members: Ralph Patino, Attorney and Entrepreneur; Carlos Trueba, Certified Public Accountant; Albert Rodriquez, CEO of Spanish Broadcasting System; and Sergio Rok, Real Estate Developer and Downtown Miami property owner. The mission of Olympia Center Inc. is the cultural programming, management and stewardship of the 1926 Olympia Theater and Office Building, a City of Miami owned historic venue that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and locally designated.
“We are excited to have George join our leadership team here at the Olympia,” said Executive Director Robert Geitner. “His broad range of expertise in finance, entertainment and operations will help us build capacity as we broaden our programming and event calendar. He understands all aspects of for-profit and nonprofit ventures as well as the nuts and bolts of day-to-day operations. He knows where we should be heading — and how to get there.”

His senior leadership role in NostalgiaCon brings his unique branding and entertainment experience to an epic cosplay celebration of everything 1980’s. These attributes have brought Cabrera accolades and attention – he was named as one of the “40 under 40” young leaders to watch and was given the “Nuestro Orgullo Hispano” award, which honors community leadership and service in South Florida.
