New Digital Startup, Bevisible.soy, Connects Latina Millennials to Opportunities

— Latina-owned social media start up is the first to match Latina millennials with companies, universities, Latino thought leaders and professionals in one digital space —

BOULDER, CO – June 30, 2015 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – The platform BeVisible.soy announced today the national launch of a social media platform that will connect Latina Millennials to Latina thought leaders and career professionals throughout the country. Based in Boulder, Colorado, and created by Harvard Law-trained corporate lawyer Andrea Guendelman, and former digital media executive Silvia Travesani, the platform charts a new course to help companies recruit diverse talent, and support Latinas in finding career and educational opportunities.

“Social media needs to evolve to continue growing. BeVisible offers a critical and growing demographic a deeper social space. It also offers the private sector a valuable way to recruit Latinas and tap their enormous potential to contribute”

“We’ve heard the debates about how to bring diverse talent to Silicon Valley and other centers of the economy. Rather than keep knocking, BeVisible allows Latinas to open doors for each other while offering companies targeted recruiting of diverse and educated talent,” says Guendelman, co-founder.

BeVisible has seen its new community grow, attracting users and employers. Since launching the private beta site in May, it has received more than 10,000 unique visitors.

Their newest backer, Maria Chrin, CEO and Managing Partner of Circle Wealth Management in New York, and former executive at Goldman Sachs believes in the mission. “This is the moment for Latinas to help each other,” says Chrin. “We know that the steps we take to be seen and heard will trickle down and impact our futures and our kids’ futures. We can make a positive impact, and I strongly believe the time to do so is now.”

By the year 2050 Latinas will account for more than 26 percent of the female population in the U.S. Creating and recruiting from a pipeline of diverse, qualified, and skilled talent will become essential to companies seeking to compete in a competitive global environment.” According to a report released in October 2014 by the White House Council of Economic Advisors, “Millennials represent the largest generation in the United States, comprising roughly one-third of the total population. Aside from their numbers, Millennials’ diversity sets them apart from other generations.” More notably, “Millennials are also among the most highly educated U.S. generation today, and Millennial women are attending college and attaining degrees in far greater numbers than counterparts in earlier generations.”
Recently, Stephen Palacios, executive director of research firm, Added Value, affirmed in a MediaPost article that the “Millennial Latina mindset is inherently different in another critical way from their forebears and from non-Hispanics: they see themselves finding much greater professional and financial success than their parents.”

Be Visible addresses the needs of this demographic. It matches Latina Millennials with earlier generations of Latina leaders who themselves have substantial experience and influence in a variety of industries, including: technology, business, politics, and higher education.

“Social media needs to evolve to continue growing. BeVisible offers a critical and growing demographic a deeper social space. It also offers the private sector a valuable way to recruit Latinas and tap their enormous potential to contribute,” said, David Cohen, Managing Partner at TechStars

The platform combines the community-building aspect of Facebook, with the ability to search in-network for professional contacts as with LinkedIn, along with the highly appealing graphic elements typical of Pinterest. BeVisible is a one-stop interface for Latinas.

“BeVisible offers a deeper and richer community experience for our members than many other social media platforms; this encourages Latinas to spend more time on the site and invest more energy in each other,” says Travesani, co-founder.

To maintain the deep community experience, users interested in joining the platform must first request an invitation to register.
