LOS ANGELES, CA – September 13, 2017 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Latino Thought Makers, a national conversation series featuring inspirational guests, has partnered with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) for a special Town Hall event on Monday, October 30, 2017, as part of HACU’s 31st Annual Conference in San Diego, California. Special guest stars include actor/comedian CHEECH MARIN, actress/author DIANE GUERRERO(Orange is the New Black, Superior Donuts), FIELD CEO DAVID VILLARINO and show creator/host and award-winning writer/director/comedian, RICK NAJERA.

The exclusive Latino Thought Makers event is sponsored by FIELD (Farmworkers Institute of Education and Leadership Development) and will present Najera’s coined phrase, «Latinos are the Solution, Not the Problem: How Latinos in Media and Education Are Changing the Narrative and Creating Opportunities Now More than Ever” and will take place at Hilton San Diego Bayfront on Monday, October 30 from 3:30pm – 5:00pm.

“We are delighted to welcome the Latino Thought Makers to HACU’s Annual Conference for this discussion on the importance of Latino narratives,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores. “This is a rare opportunity to hear national leaders in entertainment and labor at the conference, people who have helped to share the image of the contemporary Latino/a, and we thank FIELD for their sponsorship of this event.»

“The Farmworker Institute of Education and Leadership Development (FIELD) is participating in the HACU conference with the specific mission to honor the vision of Cesar Chavez and to contribute to the discussion of higher education for Hispanics. Our partnership with Rick Najera’s Latino Thought Makers will undoubtedly initiate a provocative dialogue,” said David Villarino, FIELD’s Chief Executive Officer.

Latino Thought Makers is an inspirational, live conversation series created and hosted by award-winning writer, director, author and comedian Rick Najera. Since its inception in 2013, the show has featured more than 100 inspiring and influential Latinos/Latinas such as Edward James Olmos, Dolores Huerta, Danny Trejo, Luis Guzman, Esai Morales, among others. The platform allows for guests to witness personal conversations and comedic camaraderie shared between Najera and his network of industry friends.

The HACU Annual Conference is the association’s premier conference on Hispanic higher education, bringing together more than 1,700 participants from across the United States, Puerto Rico and Latin America. Among the attendees will be administrators, faculty and staff from colleges and universities, students, and leaders and partners in higher education.

The Latino Thought Makers at HACU’s Town Hall will take place from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. on October 30 at Hilton San Diego Bayfront, 1 Park Boulevard, San Diego, California. The Town Hall is open to registered attendees of HACU’s Annual Conference. Registration is available online through October 13 by visiting http://bit.ly/RegisterHACU17.
