LOS ANGELES, CA- October 11, 2018 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Hispanicize Los Angeles, the west coast’s counterpart to the national Hispanicize Miami conference, is expected to close Hispanic Heritage Month with a gathering of the nation’s most influential Latinx professionals for 2.5 days in Century City’s Intercontinental Hotel from October 11-13th . New and returning brand partners have prepared thoughtful panels and engaging activations in an effort to connect with consumers via influencers and other programs. The LA gathering will mark the first time the event is open to the public on Saturday.

Now in its 3rd year, Hispanicize LA expands from one to nearly three days as a result of social influencer and sponsor demand on the west coast for a more in-depth experience. The event will feature the key themes of financial literacy and empowerment, STEM education, diversity and entrepreneurship, tech innovations, community leadership, diversity in Hollywood and Latina motivation. Hispanicize LA offers top Latino influencers, communications professionals and senior-level college students a networking event to hear the latest in virtual trends, connect with brand partners, collaborate with like-minded creators and advance their skill sets through professionally led industry sessions such as What’s New in Digital Trends and Producing Viral Videos Like A Boss, among many others.

The event’s returning presenting sponsor is Prudential Financial who will present its first Positive Impact Award program outside of Miami honoring two key Latinas. The brand also will deliver a thought-provoking panel with top Latina influencer Patty Rodriguez to help attendees consider paths toward wealth management. Various brands are activating unique programs at Hispanicize LA designed to inspire and motivate attendees. First-time sponsor Major League Soccer will host a panel on ‘Engaging With the Sports Fans of the New North America,’ and Colgate Optic White will present the ‘Content Creators & Brands Professional Speed Dating’ as well as host celebrity beauty influencer Laura Sanchez at a Meet & Greet on Friday October 12th. Other panels will feature new initiatives from Uulala App, MusicaRoots and VotoLatino. Returning sponsors including Microsoft, Amazon, Ford, Israel Tourism, Remitly, Dove, Nielson, Walmart, Universal Pictures and airline partner United Airlines have solid programming awaiting attendees including the presentation of top trends in travel by United, timely research on Latinx consumer insights by Nielson, and Microsoft’s mentoring session for college-level students (or anyone!) about “How To Go From a Job To a Dream Job.” There is even an ‘underarm university’ for Latinas presented by Dove and Amazon is sharing the latest bilingual reading technology for parents of young kids. For the first 50 attendees arriving via car at the Intercontinental hotel venue, Ford is sponsoring the parking with a special driving safety message through its ‘Abroachate Por Amor’ (buckle up for love) program.

Hispanicize LA will be the scene for the inaugural Latinx Creator Meet & Greet which will be open to the public for the first time. The event slated for Saturday Oct. 13th from 5-7 PM will be available for consumers to come meet their favorite Latinx social content creators. The exclusive LA movie screening of Universal Pictures ‘Halloween’ will close-out the event with a ‘monster bash’ cocktail hour and movie viewing ahead of the film’s national opening. One-day passes and all programming details are available HERE

“Inspiring our community and future leaders including students, Latinas and influencers is central to our goals for Hispanicize events and our brand partners who present unique programs catered for our audience,” said Cristy Clavijo-Kish, co-founder and Managing Partner of Partnerships, Hispanicize Events. “Our programming in Los Angeles aims to address the lack of diversity and inclusion in the creator industry that is often overlooked by big conferences,” said Katherine Johnson-Gunn, co-founder and Managing Partner of Programming, Hispanicize Events.

Key program highlights include:

LGBTQ

The LGBTQ community continues to dominate the mainstream, See how these proud Latinx influencers are connecting with their fans on social media, and creating a safe space. Some of the event’s panels which talk about this are: Latinx LGBTQ’ Impact on Pop Culture presented by AH LOUD. Hear Valentina to Miss Vannnnjie, to Vida and Pose, discuss LGBTQ’s impact on all things pop culture.

Emerging Bloggers/Influencers

Hispanicize LA is also a launching pad for many up and coming influencers across the community. It offers newbies and highly engaged creators platforms and resources to enable them to pursue their goals and become role models for future generations. Some of the event offerings include: How to Fuel Your Passion, a step by step plan to establish and expand your brand, grow your network with intention and monetize your passion more strategically. For the first time, an inaugural Latinx Creator Meet & Greet open to the public, is slated for Saturday Oct. 13th from 5-7 PM will be available for consumers to come meet their favorite Latinx social content creators.

Making Your Vote Count

Timing ahead of the highly anticipated midterm elections in November also puts Hispanicize LA at the epicenter of discussions around Latino voter turn-out and political issues facing the community. A political townhall aptly titled Get the Vote Out features key community legislators and leaders slated for Saturday, Oct. 13th and includes Voto Latino, CHCI, JOLT and CHIRLA among other organizations.

Latinx Filmmakers Showcase

Launched in partnership with The Latino Filmmaker Network, the goal of this series is to educate and empower Latino talent in the Entertainment industry and to give Latinos, a voice and platform. The film panels will offer tips on storytelling, pitching your next project, and using diversity & inclusion to project your American Latino voice and break through the stereotypes in Hollywood. Some of the panels include: Crowdfunding for Films/TV, Social Media Marketing for Film/TV, Speed Dating for Filmmakers and Make Hollywood Hear You; Defining your American Latino Voice, among others.

Diversity in Hollywood

Although a review of the top 10 films and television shows underscores how important diverse audiences have become as drivers of box office and ratings, minorities and specifically Latinos, are still widely underrepresented in films. Diversity is a hot topic in Hollywood and some of the panels that address that theme include #TIMESUP: Diversity in Hollywood with actress Essence Atkins and Gabrielle Carteris, President of SAG-AFTRA.
