MIAMI, FL – January 16, 2014 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – After almost 10 years of rehearsals, gigs, more rehearsals, benefits, more rehearsals and helping to build a fledgling music scene in South Florida, Miami rock band Ovrhol has completed recording their first album, Becoming, to be released March 1.

What are they going to do next? Well, they’re not really the Disney World types. Ovrhol is going to Austin, TX!
Austin is a rock music capitol in the U.S. and Ovrhol has been invited to play at one of America’s greatest music and film festivals – South by South West, March 17-22. The festival has become one of the most important conferences of its kind, bringing together musicians and music industry professionals from all over the country.
These are two big, back-to-back milestones for the band, which has worked hard to get to this point.
Ovrhol was founded by singer/guitarist Richard Rey in 2006, but didn’t complete recording Becoming until the band teamed up with producer Richard Maloney (RPM-Entertainment) last year.
Working at a blistering pace and on a shoestring budget, the album was completed last December at Studio Center and Red Room Recording Studios and is slated for release this March 1st.
“The people at Studio Center, and Red Room bent over backwards and really helped us make it happen,” Rey said.
The opportunity to play SXSW came after the legendary South Florida music manager John Tovar heard a rough cut of Becoming and invited them to participate in a showcase that Tovar is organizing at SXSW on March 19th.
“I really like this band because they are all about songs, song, songs,” said Tovar, who also has managed Marilyn Manson (Interscope Records), The Mavericks (MCA Universal), Nuclear Valdez (Sony Epic) The Good (Mercury Universal) and Exposé (Arista).
Landy Jimenez, Ovrhol’s bass player, said getting to SXSW hasn’t been easy. “But nothing worth it ever is and this band never gives up.”
