“On behalf of the Altísimo Live production team, we want to thank all the fans, celebrities, music artists, Hispanic organizations, media partners, representatives, and brands who on Cinco de Mayo united to help raise funds for the Farmworkers’ Pandemic Relief Fund created by Justice for Migrant Women and Hispanics in Philanthropy.
Thanks to your generosity, our text to give platform, and those of corporate funders like P&G, PepsiCo, WW, and the Chispa Latino dating app, among others, we have been able to raise more than $700,000 thus so far – and counting. Today and through this month of May, our fundraising drive for the farmworkers continues because the needs of these farmworkers do not expire on Cinco de Mayo and neither does the idea of Altísimo Live!, which is permanently now to unite, inspire and empower our Latino community.
Despite our best efforts, and working around the clock to put this show together as glitch-free as possible in time for Cinco de Mayo, we faced technical difficulties last night. We want to especially apologize to our host and friend Enrique Santos of iHeartLatino, who worked tirelessly through the tech issues that were outside of his control and who despite the challenges thrown his way, helped us tell the stories of our wonderful farmworker community.
We also want to apologize to some of the wonderful artists – and their fans – who out of the goodness of their hearts wanted to be part of the charity broadcast and who despite their best efforts were not able to make it into the webstream.
Altísimo Live! is not and will never be a business. Like Live Aid, which inspired it, Altísimo Live! will continue as an idea owned by the Latino community to unite, empower, inspire, and help the Latino community.
