MIAMI, FL – JULY 31, 014 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Diego Vasquez has been named Editorial Director of Hispanic Market Weekly. He takes over the responsibilities held until now by Cynthia Corzo, who is leaving HMW to join Florida International University as assistant director of communications-College of Business.
“Diego is the right person to take the helm of HMW because he knows our industry well and has an established presence in covering advertisers’ efforts to connect with Hispanics as well as Hispanic-focused media”
In this new role, Diego will lead HMW’s editorial content, working directly with other members of the HMW team as well as with new contributors to the publication’s signature coverage. Additionally, he will expand HMW’s FocusON trends that are now shaping the Hispanic marketing landscape as well as provide insight and analysis on these topics.
“Diego is the right person to take the helm of HMW because he knows our industry well and has an established presence in covering advertisers’ efforts to connect with Hispanics as well as Hispanic-focused media,” says Cynthia Corzo, who remains a vested partner in HMW. “My new adventure at FIU is an exciting and challenging opportunity in academia, an area that I’ve always had a deep interest in.”
Diego has been a part of Hispanic Market Weekly for the past four years and has regularly authored some of HMW’s in-depth Special Reports. He is committed to the improvement of HMW’s original and exclusive content and will preside over several new products and services that are in the pipeline.
“It will not be easy to replace Cynthia Corzo as the ‘soul’ of Hispanic Market Weekly, but I can’t think of a better person to take over HMW’s editorial responsibility than Diego,” says HMW’s publisher, Arturo Villar. “It will be a new era and a new approach, but the same integrity and the same level of service to our subscribers and our industry.”
A 10-year veteran of covering the Hispanic media market, including advertising, television ratings and entertainment, Diego has worked for Media Life Magazine and the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He has a master’s degree in journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
