A 15-year award winning news veteran, Ospina joins Estrella TV’s KRCA from KTMD Telemundo, Houston, where she most recently served as assistant news director. In her new role at KRCA, she will be responsible for the strategic planning and direction of all local news for Estrella TV Network’s Los Angeles station. As the new head of news for KRCA, Ospina becomes the only female VP of news of any major Spanish language station in the Los Angeles market and only one of ten Latinas leading a news room in the top 20 DMA’s in the U.S., according to NewsBlues.com’s most recent “News Directors By Market” report.

Ospina comes to KRCA, Channel 62 with an extensive and impressive career in news. Prior to KTMD, she served as news director at KTAZ Telemundo Arizona for five years. In this capacity, she achieved record year-to-year growth in late news in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 and positioned Noticiero Telemundo Arizona as the most-watched local newscast in the market, regardless of language, for 10 consecutive months.
Ospina will take the helm of KRCA’s local newsroom effective October 10, 2016. Ospina holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Phoenix.
