MIAMI, FL – November 26, 2019 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Marcela Gómez-Bogomolni, clinical social worker, activist, and journalist, announces her candidacy for Miami-Dade County School Board District 3, for the period 2020-2024, in order to improve the current educational system which continues to disappoint our children.
Violence, bullying, drugs and inaccurate school programs affect children’s development and promote their emotional instability. Therefore, Gómez-Bogomolni believes that it is necessary to implement a comprehensive mental health program in order to form a community coalition between parents, teachers, and clinicians. “Her proposal comes from the inside out, in relation to what we can do and how we can improve,” said Ariela Jason-Hes, a teacher with 20 years of experience and a Health Coach, referring to the fundamental aspects of the campaign, which include:
— Prioritize children’s emotional development.
— Target schools’ accountability and proactivity.
— Develop a full and complete anti-vaping and opioids use prevention and education program.
— Target an evidence-based mental health program through art, physical activities and mindfulness tools.
— Improve the school nutrition program to support children’s behavior and emotional health.
— Implement education programs for immigrant parents to facilitate their knowledge of our school system.
Gómez-Bogomolni plans to use her 23 years of experience in caring for immigrant families and communities to raise the education system standards in Miami-Dade County District 3. “She is resourceful, is bound to connect with different agencies in order to generate results for clients,” said Lilian Bernal, a clinical social worker, in support of Gómez-Bogomolni’s professional skills. Meanwhile, for Humberto Estenoz, former Mayor’s assistant, “Marcela has succeeded as a journalist, as a business owner, as a woman, as a wife, and she is determined. She will be a great commissioner of the Miami-Dade school board for District 3″.
