MIAMI, FL – September 22, 2015 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) will be launching its first annual Spanish-language conference in 2016 and it will do so in conjunction with Hispanicize 2016 at the annual Latino trendsetters and newsmakers event.

The industry first, weeklong track of NAHJ-produced Spanish-language journalism sessions will be held within Hispanicize 2016, scheduled for April 4-8 in Miami’s InterContinental Hotel.

Parallel to the Spanish-language sessions for journalists, Hispanicize 2016 will also host its Hispanic Journalist Showcase with English-language sessions on media entrepreneurship and social media in the newsroom.

In addition to the Spanish-language sessions, the NAHJ will work with university student journalists to produce daily online web content from the event.

“We had a great response from our members to NAHJ’s expanded role in programming at the Hispanicize event this year,” said NAHJ president Mekahlo Medina. “This partnership will expand our efforts to meet the professional development content needs of many Spanish-language journalists.”

Hispanicize event organizers say the collaboration shows the power of uniting two organizations who empower Latino and multicultural content creators.

“We’re honored to host this first annual national convention within Hispanicize and we’re confident that Latino journalists will be excited to discover the unprecedented opportunities that will await them for professional career or even media entrepreneurship development,” said Manny Ruiz, founder and Creative Director of the Hispanicize event. “Working in close partnership with the NAHJ we’re going to provide Hispanic journalists who attend the Spanish or English language journalist content showcase with an incredibly enriching experience.”

NAHJ will be getting a percentage of the discounted journalist registration fees from non-credentialed journalists who attend the event this year. Journalists who cover the event will not be charged fees to attend.

The deadline for proposing panelists and submitting session ideas for the 7th annual Hispanicize 2016 is October 28, 2015. To submit a session idea or suggest a speaker visit http://www.hispanicizeevent.com/about/session-submission.
