Evolving Hispanic Heritage Month into a Month of Financial Empowerment

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – September 19, 2016 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – With a continued commitment to expand educational outreach in the Hispanic community, Consolidated Credit is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th through October 15th. During this time the organization also aims to support the efforts of U.S. Hispanics to seek financial education that promotes long-term stability.

Consolidated Credit launched CelebrandoLaHispanidad.com exactly one year ago in September 2015. The website is designed to help Latino families in their quest for financial health. This year marks the first anniversary of this unique Spanish-language personal finance website. Consolidated Credit once again, wishes to celebrate the Hispanic population for their achievements and valuable contributions to the economy and nation.

“Hispanic-Americans represent 17 percent of the entire U.S. population, and if Latinos in the U.S. were a country they would represent the ninth largest economy of the world,” says Beatriz Hartman, Community Development Manager for Consolidated Credit. However, a survey shows that more than half of Hispanics still receive financial education primarily through family and friends. The role of CelebrandoLaHispanidad.com is not only to celebrate the contributions of Latin culture in the U.S., but also to help Hispanics to build financial literacy that’s often lacking due to cultural differences and language barriers.

CelebrandoLaHispanidad.com is expanding this year to become fully bilingual. It features interactive maps, financial tools, infographics, videos, calculators, budgeting and saving tips, as well as other great resources that can help Hispanic families become more financially savvy.

By increasing financial education, Hispanic families will be better prepared to address challenges that can endanger financial stability. Over the years, Consolidated Credit has provided a number of financial literacy programs and workshops with that goal in mind. The organization has also partnered with other nonprofit organizations, such as Hialeah Housing Authority, Hispanic Unity, Miami Beach Community Development Corporation, United Way, Career Source and Broward Housing Authority. The goal of these initiatives is to explain the concept of financial literacy, while providing resources that assist Hispanic families in building a solid financial future.

In addition to CelebrandoLaHispanidad.com, Consolidated Credit also has a Spanish-language website, Facebook page and YouTube channel. These outlets offer unique content that makes personal finance fun and interactive to build help pathways to a strong, diverse middle-class.
