SAN ANTONIO, TX – March 23, 2021 – (NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE) – The Cesar E. Chavez Legacy and Educational Foundation (CECLEF) will be virtually celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice. This year’s theme, Continuing the Spirit of La Causa and Honoring The Farm Worker is a tribute to the life and legacy of Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and all those who have played a part in helping us reach this 25-year milestone in San Antonio. The celebration can be seen live via Facebook Live on the Cesar E. Chavez Legacy & Educational Foundation Facebook page at 7PM. @SAChavezFoundation.

The virtual march will visit the people, places, and events that helped shape the march which has become a beautiful tradition for San Antonio. Also featured are personal interviews with Secretary & Former Mayor Julian Castro, Former UFW leaders President Arturo Rodriguez and Rebecca Flores, Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales, and Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert. Never before seen pictures and video archives found after the death of the late activist and labor leader Jaime P. Martinez will also be shared including footage related to the grassroots campaign to change Durango Street to Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

The virtual celebration will also celebrate with entertainment to include poetry and music featuring special performances of the farmworker anthem “Las Nubes” by Grammy winner, Little Joe y La Familia, super mariachi and award-winning musicians, Campanas de America, and San Antonio favorite, El Tallercito de Son.

“Our celebration will not only be celebratory in nature but will also be an educational experience for the community,” said Ernest J. Martinez, CECLEF Chairman. “We’re honoring our past and acknowledging the youth who are the future for our community.” On Wednesday, March 24th from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM a special educational event is lined up in partnership with UTSA. The virtual lunch event moderated by Dr. Lilliana Saldana will feature Roberto “El Capitan” Bustos as a guest speaker and will be joined by a student panel made up of SAISD Lanier High School and UTSA students to discuss the historic 400-mile march from Delano, California to the state capitol (Sacramento) in 1966. Bustos, 78 was selected by Cesar Chavez to lead the historic march and will share his personal story and experiences of organizing with Cesar Chavez.
