Taher shares information about how our emotional relationship with money affects the decisions we make and how we can eradicate debt and create wealth. She also focuses on providing technology and innovation tips as a way for people to invest and for women to bring down the gender pay gap. TecTv’s first interview today on Tuesday, August 17th at 8 pm (El Salvador’s time), showcases Jaime Menéndez, El Salvador’s Country Manager for Microsoft Corporation, and Beatriz Imendia, Regional Marketing & Communications Manager for the company. They will talk about people’s fears about technology as an impediment to adopt it early as well as the several free programs the company offers in El Salvador and Latin America on behalf of women and non-profit organizations.
The show’s second interview features Oscar Rodríguez, Chain Flowers’ CEO. The company produces Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) from artisans and other artists as a way for people to generate more income and invest in these digital assets created on the blockchain. NFTs received notoriety after Jack Dorsey, Twitter and Square’s CEO, auctioned his first-ever tweet as an NFT for $2.9 million and was bought using Ethereum, a cryptocurrency. Dorsey converted the proceeds to Bitcoin and donated the funds to GiveDirectly, an African charity.
Taher has worked in several business roles with Fortune 500 companies including IBM and corporation Televisa (Mexico), Globo (Brasil), Grupo Digicel, Getty Images Latin America, and a few governments in Latin America. She’s presented at various international conferences including the Interamerican Development Bank’s Fintech conference and with the U.S. State Department, via its embassies in Latin America at academic institutions including the Tec de Monterrey, UNAM, and others. She currently leads technological and economic international affairs efforts for the Trade & Investments Secretariat at the Government of El Salvador.
Mónica has a B.A. and a Master’s in Cinema and Media Studies from UCLA, speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese & Farsi, and is an active member of the American Jewish Committee. For her work and contributions on behalf of the Latino community, she’s been recognized with a proclamation by: California Governor Gavin Newsom, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Los Angeles Former Mayor Antonio Villarraigosa, and several U.S. Senators including Jackie Goldberg and Sheila Kuehl.
