MIAMI, Florida – January 14, 2014 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), Hispanicize Wire, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) and Florida International University (FIU) are teaming up to launch a groundbreaking survey to uncover Hispanic journalists’ beliefs about their careers and their use of social media and technology.

“We’re confident that the insights we will glean from this survey will bring awareness to these issues and will ultimately help elevate the journalism industry as a whole”

The 5-minute national survey is targeting U.S. Latino and Puerto Rico-based journalists who produce content for Hispanic and non-Hispanic media outlets alike. The online survey is being promoted nationally through Hispanicize Wire as well as thru the NAHJ starting February 4.

“This first annual survey will reveal the challenges and changes that most concern Hispanic journalists today,” said Manny Ruiz, Founder and CEO of Hispanicize Wire and the annual Hispanicize event. “We’re confident that the insights we will glean from this survey will bring awareness to these issues and will ultimately help elevate the journalism industry as a whole.”

“NAHJ is very excited to join a coalition focused on championing the fair and accurate treatment and coverage of Hispanic journalists. We believe that this study will be useful information in our association’s ability to better serve our members and engage in conversations with media companies”

The results of the groundbreaking survey will be jointly unveiled as part of the Hispanic Journalist Showcase of the 5th Annual Hispanicize 2014 (http://www.HispanicizeEvent.com) event, the annual Latino trends event, that will be held April 1-4 in Miami at the InterContinental Miami hotel. This year’s Hispanic Journalist Showcase will feature a Who’s Who of top Hispanic journalists with a particularly strong focus on the topic of media entrepreneurship for journalists.
