MIAMI, FL – January 22, 2015 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Puerto Rican-born character actor Luis Guzmán, the master of landing character roles in memorable movies and then stealing the show, will be honored with the Latinovator Award at Hispanicize 2015. Hispanicize, the sixth annual Latino trends event for filmmakers, bloggers, journalists, marketers, influencers and music artists, will take place March 16-20, at the InterContinental Hotel in Miami.

The Latinovator Awards recognize Latino celebrities, business professionals and other high achievers who have become crossover successes or whose stories of achievements are remarkable or inspirational.

“Luis is a standout, crossover actor who in his 30-plus years in show business is best known for his character actor and cameo roles in dozens upon dozens of incredibly well known films,” said Manny Ruiz, organizer and creative director of Hispanicize 2015.

In addition to his achievements in acting, the native New Yorker is also being recognized for his passionate support for Latinos and for serving as a youth counselor. It was during his time as a social worker, that he began performing in street theatre.

Among Guzman’s more than 100 film and TV credits are “Carlito’s Way,” “Traffic,” “Boogie Nights,” “The Count of Monte Cristo,” Maldeamores,” “Journey to the Mysterious Island,” and “Magnolia.”

Guzman got his big break in the early ‘80s with a role on the popular TV series, “Miami Vice.” He then began getting roles in a wide range of films and television shows. On TV, Guzman became a regular presence due to a recurring role on the HBO prison drama “Oz,” as well as appearances on such shows as HBO’s “How to Make it in America,” “John from Cincinnati,” as well as up and coming shows like Netflix’s “Nacros,” and Showtime’s “Roadies.”

Guzman joins 2015 Latinovator recipients DulceCandy of YouTube fame. Hispanicize 2015 will name four recipients for the 2015 Latinovator Award. Each of the Latinovators will be presented with their awards individually at Hispanicize 2015 as part of a special general session where they will talk about their inspirations, business habits and road to success.
