NEW YORK, NY – September 16, 2015 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Colgate announced today its second year partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) to launch the company’s annual Haz la U™ educational grant program now in its seventh year. To promote the importance of education among Latinos, the company will support the HHF’s Youth Awards program through its Community Service “track” and award up to $75,000 in grants to 44 students across the country.

Students can apply for the community service “track” via www.hhfawards.hispanicheritage.org through October 15, 2015. Forty-four high school students will be selected by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation to receive educational grants from Colgate-Palmolive to help pay for their first year of college and put them on the road to graduation.

“Colgate continues to support Hispanic enrollment in college by supporting families with the costs of higher education,” said Carla Kelly, general manager of multicultural marketing, Colgate-Palmolive. “We are excited to partner with such a prestigious organization that aligns with us on the importance of preparing future generations of Latinos to become leaders in their communities.”

A recent U.S. Census Bureau Analysis revealed that Hispanic enrollment in a two-or four-year college has more than tripled since 1993, making this minority the largest group on U.S. college campuses. Colgate and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation once again have stepped up to the plate to focus their efforts on providing financial help to students and families for their college studies.

Last year, one of the Haz la U™ winners, Mariano Stephens had the opportunity to enroll at the Yale University through the company’s scholarship grant, which helped make his college enrollment dream a reality.

“I want to thank Colgate for supporting Latinos like me that need financial support to start their college and professional careers. With the increasing costs of tuition and books, Colgate’s grant has taken a significant weight off my shoulders. Since I can worry less about the financial burdens of college, I can focus on my studies and achieve academic success.”
