LONG BEACH, CA — May 16, 2014 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), California-state members will gather this weekend from across the state in Long Beach, California beginning on May 16 through May 18. California LULAC Chapters, members and community representatives will gather for the annual state convention held at the Westin Hotel in the coastal community of Long Beach, California.

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), founded in 1929, is the oldest and most widely respected Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States of America. LULAC was created at a time in our country’s history when Hispanics were denied basic civil and human rights, despite contributions to American society. The founders of LULAC created an organization that empowers its members to create and develop opportunities where they are needed most.
It’s definitely worth noting that for the first time ever in California’s history, this being the 67th California LULAC Convention, the general public is invited to be part of this historical event. Also for the first time and for the benefit of all interested in attending but unable to travel to the convention site, this convention will be Webcast live on prime TV on ROKU direct stream TV, allowing for statewide and national participation.
The convention is set to host a preview of the original play honoring Latino Recipients of the nation’s Highest Award for Valor, presented by award-winning Director Enrique Castillo.
Workshops that are open to the public will highlight current issues, presenting on subjects such as education, health, veteran affairs, employment and workforce, medical consumer rights and responsibilities, immigration issues and much more. This statewide convention will include exhibits and many „First Time‟ ever events and collaborations.
