“Many of our members are Puerto Ricans in the US, abroad and on the island and we need to support them however we can. That is why we are holding this raffle with the support of our wonderful community of Latino professionals in the hopes of raising funds to aid in the relief efforts in Puerto Rico,” says AMIGOS founder Danay Escanaverino.
Helping people recover from natural disasters like Hurricane Ian is just one example of how the Amigos community unites in support of fellow Latinos. The community has raised thousands of dollars for Cancer research, college grants, helping disadvantaged students with travel costs for school trips, and other local and national fundraising efforts.
AMIGOS was created in December 2020 in response to events and businesses going virtual during the height of the pandemic. Danay wanted to create a space where Latinos could gather to connect and promote their businesses, even though they couldn’t meet in-person. She knew that then-new social audio platform Clubhouse was the perfect place to make that happen. The community has rapidly grown to over 38,000 members and continues to support its members through daily events and resources on multiple social platforms and a website.
Members of the AMIGOS community enjoy daily networking events in Spanish and English on Clubhouse, LinkedIn Audio, and Twitter Spaces. Members benefit from a free business directory, a weekly newsletter with job opportunities, grants, resources, and other tools to help them grow as professionals and entrepreneurs.
