Vme TV Highlights the Women of World War II

MIAMI, FL – November 3, 2014 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Vme TV, the only national Spanish-language television network affiliated with public television stations, commemorates Veteran’s Day by bringing viewers a series based on the lives of the brave women who risked everything for the safety of the people around the world with the historic-based program, “Bomb Girls.” The television drama set in the 40s will premiere on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 8 p.m. E/P.

“Bomb Girls” chronicles the lives of women who worked in the fictional Victory Munitions plant in Canada, building bombs for the Allied Forces fighting the European front during World War II. The series goes beyond the superficial to delve into the lives of four women who were living on the verge of social change, liberated from their home and social restrictions during a war that had a dramatic impact on the lives of women.

“Through ‘Bomb Girls,’ Vme TV aims to shed new light on the significant but oftentimes overlooked role that women played in history and the Allied Forces’ triumph during WWII,” said Doris Vogelmann, Vme TV’s vice-president of programming. “It is key for our viewers to learn that this historical time period marked a turning point in history that demanded social change and challenged traditional gender roles in society.”

The Metropolitan State University of Denver states that between 1940 and 1945, the female labor force grew by 50 percent, including married women and women with young children. “Bomb Girls” shows just one of the various faces of women in the workforce during WWII and highlights the beginning of the modern day workingwoman. Series like “Bomb Girls” make up part of Vme TV’s programming focused on historical events such as “JFK 50 Años” and “Detrás Apollo 11,” which aim to inspire, educate, entertain and enrich the lives of the network’s viewers nationwide.
