NEW YORK, New York – August 9, 2017 — (HISPANICIZE WIRE) — Conffianz, the leading Latina-focused skincare brand, in its mission to empower Latinas living in the United States, is happy to announce it is continuing its ‘Inexplicablemente Bella’ scholarship program for the 2017-2018 academic year. After a successful inaugural program in 2016, Conffianz is doubling down on its commitment to support the Latina community by providing the essential financial resources necessary to matriculate in a college program.
Education is the foundation upon which all aspects of personal and economic well-being are built and is an important tool for achieving equality. In 2013, almost 19 percent of Latinas between 25 and 29 years of age had completed a degree, compared to 23 percent of African American women, 44 percent of white women, and 64 percent of Asian women. While college graduation rates for Latinas have increased faster than any other group of women, there is still much work to do to close the gap. Conffianz is committed to being part of the solution by donating a portion of sales to funding its Inexplicablemente Bella scholarship program for Latina students.
The Inexplicablemente Bella Scholarship is being awarded at a time when the average annual tuition of a public university is $9,650 and $33,480 at private colleges. As Latinas and their families are more reluctant to take on educational debt than other groups, having access to financial resources such as scholarships can mark the difference between completing a degree or not, the later having long term consequences including lowering long-term earning potential.
Breejha Quezada, an engineering major at UC Riverside and one of the three 2016 scholarship winners, is the first in her family to attend college right after high school. She is an inspiration to her five younger siblings and all Latinas who share her dream of becoming an engineer.
“I really want to thank Conffianz for this wonderful opportunity and for being such an inspiration to young Latinas as we strive to be all that we can be,” Quezada said.
“I founded Conffianz to empower Latinas and the ‘Inexplicablemente Bella’ Scholarship is another great example of how we are accomplishing this mission,” said Peter P. Snitzer Jr., CEO Conffianz. “We appreciated the many talented students who submitted applications last year, so much so that we awarded scholarships to three very deserving recipients because we couldn’t select just one. I’m excited to meet this year’s winner!”
Applications are now being accepted online on Conffianz’s website through August 15th, 2017. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be females of Latino descent, and have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Be high school seniors or graduates and enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college or university, or vocational/technical school in the United States.
