FRESNO, CA – September 5, 2014 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – The Crafty Chica, Kathy Cano-Murillo, debuts her Fall 2014 collection today at selected Michael’s stores, and kicks off her national appearance tour. Now in its seventh year, the new Crafty Chica product line celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and Dia de Los Muertos. Kathy, an artist, novelist and celebrated blogger, designed all the items that include decorative papers, canvas tote bags, a face paint kit, appliqués and more.

“I love that they appreciate the value and opportunity that the Latino market has to offer, not just for Hispanic Heritage Month, but all year round. The Crafty Chica® product line has been the biggest milestone in my career!”

Kathy is known for her glittery “Mexi-Boho” style on her blog, CraftyChica.com, and is inspired by her Mexican-American heritage. Her dramatic use of vivid color, combined with traditional images, has universal appeal.

To support and celebrate the release, Kathy is bringing her family and embarking on “Tour de Sparkle” – a 13-store appearance tour. She will visit stores in her home state of Arizona, as well as California and Texas. Aside from meeting customers, she will offer free Crafty Chica temporary tattoos, her favorite craft tips, and prizes.

Kathy has an award-winning web site, CraftyChica.com, which features more than 3,000 craft tutorials ranging from painting to sewing to shrine-making. As an “all-American-Latina”, her mission is to spread creativity through positivity, which she does every day with her uplifting blog posts.

“Latinas are becoming very influential voices in the arts and craft industry,” says Kathy Cano-Murillo, The Crafty Chica. Kathy is a national spokesperson for iLoveToCreate. She has also designed/blogged for brands such as Disney, Pier 1 Imports, Lowe’s, Women’s Day, Lifetime TV, HGTV, DIY Network, Nestle, Ford, Cacique and others. She has been profiled in USA Today, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. Kathy has seven published craft/DIY books as well as two craft-themed novels, Waking Up in the Land of Glitter and Miss Scarlet’s School of Patternless Sewing (Grand Central Publishing).

“iLoveToCreate believes in diversifying culturally and meeting the needs of all consumers in the arts and craft industry with a high quality Crafty Chica® product line that promises to give consumers an easy and joyful creative experience,” says Valerie Marderosian, Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of iLoveToCreate. iLoveToCreate is the first manufacturer to launch a Latino-centric craft line in mainstream retail.

“I’m so proud to work with a company that is so innovative,” Kathy says. “I love that they appreciate the value and opportunity that the Latino market has to offer, not just for Hispanic Heritage Month, but all year round.
