MIAMI, FL — January 10, 2020 — (HISPANICIZE WIRE) — Diario Las Américas, the first Spanish-language newspaper in South Florida, founded 66 years ago, announces recent appointments approved in its editorial team, as part of the strategic changes adopted over the past six years.
With more than six decades offering truthful and objective information, Diario Las Américas’ insertion into the digital era has strengthened its position as a leader among the Hispanic media in the United States. To keep up a work that has been carried on by professionals of vast experience, the beginning of the New Year also sets the start of a cycle for Diario Las Américas, kicking off 2020 with new leadership spearheading its editorial team.
Iliana Lavastida Rodríguez is the new executive director. She holds a bachelor degree in Journalism from Havana International University. She also has postgraduate studies in other areas of Communications, as well as 15 years of professional experience in South Florida where she has also worked for El Nuevo Herald.
Jesús Hernández was appointed as editor-in-chief. He is a Florida International University Communications graduate with more than 20 years of experience as a reporter and editor. Hernández also has a deep mastery of local issues, both culturally and of the political scene in South Florida and the Nation.
In addition, Ricardo Moreno is now in charge of the digital strategy. He is a Journalism graduate of Havana International University, with more than two decades of experience. His expertise and acumen and have greatly contributed to the growth of www.diariolasamericas.com.
The upcoming year will set new challenges as Diario Las Américas seeks to further enhance its editorial offerings, which will include more diversified content, new products, and strategic alliances with other media outlets.
