Moen Partners With Veterans-In-Command To Upgrade Residential Homes

NEW YORK, NY – April 17, 2015 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Moen Incorporated (www.moen.com), the #1 faucet brand in North America has partnered with Veterans-In-Command (www.veteransincommand.com), a non-profit organization in Queens, NY dedicated to providing affordable housing plus other services to veterans and their families.

Through a program called Alcanzando Sueños con Moen (“Achieving Dreams with Moen”), Moen is donating state-of-the-art and water-saving kitchen and bathroom fixtures for Veterans-in-Command’s four residential houses located in Queens. Moen’s donation will help defray some of the rehab costs that can be used to support services for the organization.

Founded in 2010, Veterans-in-Command provides shelter for returning servicemen struggling to find affordable places to live in New York City. Larry E. Robertson, president and founder of the organization, oversees three houses in Jamaica, Queens where approximately two-dozen vets live. A fourth house is being renovated for future occupancy. According to Robertson, there are more than 62,000 homeless veterans sleeping in shelters because many cannot afford the high rents in the region. VIC works with a variety of other organizations to help America’s veterans in areas such as training and employment.

Larry Robertson, VIC founder and president stated, “We appreciate this new relationship with Moen as we continue to support our veterans and their families throughout our community. Our homes will be upgraded with the best water-efficient plumbing fixtures that we badly need. VIC is not only providing a place to live, but a place to call home.”

The Alcanzando Sueños con Moen program was launched by Moen Incorporated in 2007 in partnership with the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, a major nonprofit builder of affordable homes in Chicago. Moen contributes several hundred thousand dollars worth of products annually to affordable housing projects serving predominantly Hispanic communities around the country. The program was expanded two years ago to include veteran organizations that provide affordable housing to vets and their families.

About Moen (www.moen.com, espanol.moen.com):

Moen offers a diverse selection of thoughtfully designed, stylish and affordable kitchen faucets, bathroom faucets, showerheads, and stainless steel sinks that are always on trend for residential and commercial applications. Moen is part of Fortune Brands Home & Security, Inc. (NYSE: FBHS), which creates products and services that help fulfill the dreams of homeowners and help people feel more secure. Moen has worked diligently to support, promote and advance sustainability within the organization and the plumbing industry. The company has been recognized with the 2011 EPA WaterSense® Excellence Award, as well as the 2010 EPA WaterSense Manufacturer Partner of the Year Award, for its work to protect the future of our nation’s water supply through the introduction and ongoing support of water-efficient products, programs and practices, while keeping consumers’ needs top-of-mind.
