HOUSTON, TEXAS — April 10, 2020 — (LATINX NEWSWIRE) — NHEO Institute (National Organization of Hispanic Entrepreneurs), amid the emergency the world is facing, decided to launch a fundraising campaign with the aim of continuing to assist the construction industry in this global crisis that demands solidarity.
The pandemic generated by the COVID-19 virus has impacted everyone’s life, causing a change in style, affecting interpersonal relationships, leaving hundreds dead, thousands infected and causing companies to suffer millions in losses.
In fact, a survey conducted by NHEO Institute in the last week of March found that 55% of contractors consider that projects for the execution of works were stopped or canceled, deteriorating economic conditions.
According to the Association of Construction Companies and Infrastructure Concessionaires (SEOPAN), the work stoppage caused by the quarantine will mean losing almost one percentage point of GDP for each month without activity.
That is why NHEO Institute wants to offer its assistance to an essential industry. 100% of the funds raised in this campaign will be used to develop free virtual courses, in English and Spanish, on Health and Safety.
Another objective is to create a COVID-19 Resource Center to provide virtual relief assistance to those small businesses whose members could be vulnerable to COVID-19, and to connect workers who lost their jobs with new job opportunities.
“We believe that solidarity is necessary at this moment when many families live in times of hardship,” said Max Cruz, member of the organization’s board of directors. “Our virtual assistance plan has been designed by experts to be able to provide safety and health not only to construction workers but also their families.”
This pandemic has taken the lives of thousands of people around the world. NHEO Institute considers it necessary and urgent to support the construction community in this emergency context.
Given the need for commitment to health at all construction sites, this non-profit organization aims to help hundreds of people internationally in different countries.
It is not the first time that NHEO Institute conducts these types of events. In fact, for 10 years they have dedicated themselves to this type of social work.
