NEW YORK, NY – May 27, 2016 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – The 14th Annual Latino Trendsetter Awards, presented by LatinTRENDS Magazine, was held in New York City on Tuesday, May 10th, 2016. The yearly event surrounding achievement in enterprise, arts, entertainment, health, education, sports and community leadership.

Actress, speaker and author April Hernandez Castillo and luxury real estate broker and star of Bravo’s Emmy-Nominated show Million Dollar Listing New York, Luis D. Ortiz co-hosted the presentation, igniting energy and comedic charm to the business award ceremony.

Mixing business with pleasure, the Latino Trendsetter Awards kept its tradition of providing stellar entertainment, weaving in performances by Latin GRAMMY® Award nominated salsa star, Frankie Negron, emerging Urban Tropical musician, Doñé, and violinist Lorenzo Laroc.

The awards concluded with a special Flamenco performance by Espiritu Gitano, featuring Barbara Martinez and Sol la Argentina. The event was sponsored in part by: New York Presbyterian Hospital, Inca Kola and CUNY and its media partner were; La Mega 97.9 and Amor 93.1

The Latino Trendsetter Awards and Scholarship Event ensures that the awards will create a long-term legacy of celebrating and supporting today’s most influential trailblazers within the Hispanic community.

Juan Guillen, founder & CEO of LatinTRENDS said (holding one of the awards) “ This award is heavy, made out of steel and marble, the heaviness of this award represents the struggle that many of us have or are going through, however the weight of this award reminds me more of progress…the progress which comes from overcoming our struggles. Trendsetters are not focused on the struggle or the challenges, trendsetters are focused on progress! Let’s all celebrate success tonight and every day. God bless America!”

This year’s awards recognized twelve trailblazing men and women from medicine to music, two students to help support their educational preparation and needs and a business of the year award to Hispanic owned global franchise Pollo Campero. Some of the awardees included industry-leading executives, philanthropist, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs and artists. Legendary soccer star, David Villa, music impresario and manager to Romeo Santos, Johnny Marines, Dr. Rafael Ortiz, a young Latino brain surgeon Salsa icon, La India, actor and director, Victor Cruz and HBO executive Lucinda Martinez, among others took home 2016 Latino Trendsetter Awards.
