SAN JUAN, PR – October 14, 2021 – (NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE) – 21 Events, Inc announces the long-awaited re-opening of the Roberto Clemente Museum in Puerto Rico on Friday, October 15, 2021. Baseball fans will be able to enjoy and relive the story of the beloved slugger native of Puerto Rico, who wore the uniform of the Pittsburgh Pirates and was filled with glory upon reaching the Hall of Fame in 1973.

Among the collector’s items are the contract signed by Roberto Clemente with the Senadores de San Juan; the Golden Glove he received in 1966 and the last uniform he wore with the Senators in 1972. His fans will also be able to see the plaque he earned as Most Valuable Player (MVP) after leading the Pirates to victory over the Baltimore Orioles in the 1971 World Series. .

As part of the exhibition, attendees will be able to enjoy photographs and a short video with scenes of Clemente in action.

“The main purpose is to bring each and every one of the important articles throughout the life and career of our beloved Roberto Clemente and thereby celebrate his legacy with his people in the island where he was born, his fans around the world. and those that will be visiting the Island”, informed Ralph Paniagua, organizer of the event.

This historic event will be presented thanks to the efforts of Luis Clemente, son of Roberto Clemente, his family, the Roberto Clemente Foundation, Duane Rieder, founder of the Roberto Clemente Museum in Pittsburgh, the Mayor of Guaynabo, Ángel Pérez Otero and Richy Miranda of 21 Events.

Roberto Clemente is one of the most important icons of Puerto Rico. For 18 years he was a Major League Baseball player and was part of the Pittsburgh Pirates team from 1955 to 1972. Considered a “five-tool player”, he was chosen 15 times as an “All Star”, with 3,000 hits in his career and a lifetime average of .317. He was the winner of four batting titles, twelve Golden Gloves, named MVP of the National League in 1966 and the World Series in 1971, with two World Baseball Championships in 1960 and 1971.

Clemente died in a plane crash on December 31, 1972, at the age of 38, while carrying relief supplies to the victims of the earthquake in Nicaragua. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in a special election the following year when the Pirates team retired his No. 21 uniform.

“The exhibition will serve as a link to share the memorabilia, history and life of Roberto Clemente; and with it, the attendees who will have a special connection with Clemente’s legacy,” expressed Duane Rieder, Founder of the Roberto Clemente Pittsburgh Museum.

It should be noted that there will be a new attraction that will be inaugurated at the Roberto Clemente Museum in Puerto Rico, “The Vera Clemente Room – Roberto Clemente Foundation.” This new attraction will highlight the philanthropic work of Vera Clemente and the Clemente family, which began in 1973, the year after his tragic departure. And this work continues thanks to the efforts of the Roberto Clemente Foundation.

“The exhibition will bring hope and motivation in this historic moment, to young people and adults in a unique opportunity to learn about the history and legacy of Roberto Clemente, idol of Puerto Ricans,” expressed the mayor of Guaynabo, Ángel Pérez Otero.

The Roberto Clemente Museum in Puerto Rico is sponsored by Puerto Rico Tourism, Banco Popular, and Pueblo Supermarkets.
