MIAMI, FL – November 2, 2015 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Vme TV, the only national Spanish-language television network affiliated with public television stations, will broadcast “La Musa Awards,” where big personalities of the entertainment industry gathered in celebration of the third annual gala of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame. The awards program gives Latin artists the chance to honor their peers’ outstanding work in all music genres. The two-hour show is set to air on November 7, 2015, at 8 p.m. E/P on Vme TV.
The star-studded event, presented by singer and actor Carlos Ponce, alongside model and activist Eglantina Zigg, recognizes the talent of some of the biggest names in the Latin music industry. The program will spotlight different groups of artists and iconic performances to some of the most timeless songs in the history of Latin music. Among this year’s honorees are the legendary musician and producer, Emilio Estefan, three-time Latin Grammy winner Fonseca, as well as Award-winning actress, singer and dancer, Rita Moreno, who was presented with La Musa’s Legacy Award.
“Vme TV is proud to use its platform to highlight exceptional talent in the Latino community, such as those recognized at this year’s La Musa Awards,” said Doris Vogelmann, Vme TV’s vice-president of programming. “Many of these honorees have become pioneers for up-and-coming talent in the Latin music industry, and it is important that their efforts and hard work are recognized. This type of programming gives our viewers a firsthand look at the inspiring and groundbreaking accomplishments made by Latinos.”
Created by Desmond Child and Rudy Pérez, the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame was founded in an effort to honor their fellow world-renowned colleagues for their years of outstanding work in the Latin music industry. The “La Musa Award” design stems from a 1950’s sculpture of Desmond Child’s mother, Cuban poet and songwriter, Elena Casals, who founded the Society of Exiled Cuban Authors and Songwriters.
